What does it mean?Founded in 1973, the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals (ICCP) promotes high professional standards for the computer industry under the direction of 11 constituent societies and 6 affiliate societies. The ICCP administers certification through four designators, one of which is the Certified Computer Professional. I was certified in November 1993 after meeting the necessary testing and job experience requirements. A candidate must have at least 48 months of full-time direct experience in computer-based information systems, or the part-time equivalent. My testing requirements were divided into four examinations: a Core Exam, and the Management, Business Information Systems, and Office Information Systems Exams.
